Football practice

Practice is critical in ensuring each player's safety and development.  DSYSA Pop Warner requires players to attend ALL practices in August.

Under national Pop Warner requirements, each player must meet the following practice/conditioning requirements before they can participate in a scrimmage or game:

      • Season & practices begin August 1st
      • 10 hours of conditioning (shorts and shirts-no pads), followed by
      • 10 hours of player readiness (pads)
      • Maximum of 10 hours/week; 2.5 hours per day prior to Labor Day

    Practice Schedule

Practices will run four times a week throughout August with practices likely to be held 6-8:30pm. Once school starts, we will reduce practices to three times a week. A typical practice is 2 – 2.5 hours long.
*6U players will comply with the same conditioning requirements; however total practice hours are further limited.

    Practice Attendance

Each player is expected to attend ALL practices unless they are ill or have a required school event. It is difficult for players missing any of these practices to "catch up" to the rest of the team in terms of development and understanding. It also places an unnecessary burden on the coaching volunteers and takes away training and development time from the players that did attend.
